Matthew Shepard smear on ABC's 20/20 airs Fri.
I ran an entry on this on November 12 when I learned about it, but it's moving back up top because the smear is supposed to air Friday.
ABC will be running a piece that contends Matthew Shepard's killing is just a mugging gone wrong, and is tied to meth use by the perpetrators. There is a web site up now, boycott4matthew.org, where there are a list of contacts to take action against this outrage. Andrew Sullivan contributed to the piece, which is reported by 20/20 co-anchor Elizabeth Vargas.

As I said then, the defense team was the proponent of the "gay panic" defense and drug use came up at the trial as well, so if this is now Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson trying to rewrite history while in the slammer, it represents more abuse of the victim.

While Matthew Shepard's murder was tragic, truth is truth. If the truth is that his murder was not related to his homosexuality, then it should be reported. If he was murdered solely because he was a homosexual, then that should be reported.

You have not seen the 20/20 piece, so you have no justification for calling it a smear. The homosexual activists had this pre-determined notion that he was murdered because he was a homosexual, so to them, that's the end of it. If that's a lie, it needs to be exposed. Rallying around a lie will only make you look foolish.
Whatever the case, watch 20/20 on Friday. If you can debunk their reporting do so. Just don't make demands that they not air the piece because it goes against your preconceived notions about the case. -

It is a form of propoganda best known as "holocost denial".
You claim that you are just doing an "investigative report" - were those jews "really" gassed, or is it all just a ploy for sympathy by the jews, which our intreped reporters will expose ?
ABC has made it quite clear what they are planning and has refused to allow anyone concerned about the reports accuracy - such as GLAAD or the Matthew Shepard foundation - to view their "report" ahead of time and review it's accuracy. -
I, of course, will wait until this is all over, but like you, Pam, I have great doubts.

The commercials say, "We have interviews with his killers!" And... is that it? Is that the only evidence you have that Shepard may have been killed for reasons other than being gay? Because I swear, if someone gave me a forum to make it look like I didn't commit one of the greatest hate crimes of the '90s, I'd say anything.
That, and Henderson used the freaking "gay panic" defense, so he really has no ground here. None at all.
