Bush hiding behind his mommy's apron as his SocSec plan tanks with the public

Saturday, March 19, 2005

Former first lady Barbara Bush listens to her son, President Bush (news - web sites), as he advances his Social Security destruction proposal before a hand-picked audience at the Lake Nona YMCA Family Center in Orlando, Fla., Friday, March 18, 2005. In a state with a large population of retirees, Bush wants to assure seniors that they will continue to receive their regular government checks, while he pushes for a system of private accounts which would enable younger workers to divert a portion of their payroll taxes from Social Security deductions and into stock market investments to bankroll their retirement. You know he's in trouble when he rolls mommy out. It's amazing that the woman has such a high approval rating when she has a reputation as a cut-you-off-at-the-knees operative. She really came off poorly in Kitty Kelley's The Family.
