Gingrich: Dems' sex scandals are worse

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

How about this laugher --
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Wednesday that Democratic sex scandals have been far worse than the suggestive Internet messages sent to teenage congressional pages by former Rep. Mark Foley.

"What we don't have to do is allow our friends on the left to lecture us on morality," Gingrich said at a party fundraiser in Greenville. "There's a certain stench of hypocrisy."
This is the best he can do at this point in the meltdown? No one was claiming Dem politicians aren't capable of sleaze. God's Own Party claimed to be the holy-rolling, clean living, pious guard of all things pure and holy.

Report: Drunken Foley showed up at page's dorm

Oh lord, what else...
A senior House Republican has asked the House clerk to look into allegations that then-Rep. Mark Foley was turned away from the congressional page dorm on Capitol Hill after arriving there intoxicated one night.

U.S. Rep. Deborah Pryce, R-Ohio, is calling for a further investigation of the dorm report. “Congresswoman Pryce contacted the clerk and asked her to look into this rumor,” said Geoff Embler, a spokesman for Pryce.

Rep. Roger Wicker, a Mississippi Republican, asked Pryce and other House leaders, including House Speaker Dennis Hastert, about the alleged incident during a conference call Monday evening, Embler said.

Foley’s attorney, David Roth, could not be reached for comment.
